The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors deadlocked, 3-3, Wednesday on a motion to request the Virginia Department of Transportation hold a public hearing on the Western Bypass of U.S. 29.
The motion, which failed amid audible boos, was brought forward by Supervisor Dennis S. Rooker, who said a public hearing, rather than an informal informational meeting, was necessary.
A simple informational meeting requires no notification of the public and has no formal opportunity for public comment.
